A camping we will go…..

6-5-09 148

I absolutely LOVE this picture of Dawson. I can just hear him now….very excitedly yelling “BIGGER, BIGGER!!!”

6-5-09 149

You see, these little guys were sitting here watching a teenager jump on his motorcycle, and they thought it was thee coolest thing ever. Us, parents, not so much. I believe Wayde and Keith clapped, actually clapped, when he parked his bike at his camp next to us and disembarked.

6-5-09 150

This here, is the super duper Walmart special that only lasted three times. A whole three launches, but it was really cool while it lasted.

6-5-09 151

You can tell it was super duper, just look at his face!

6-5-09 152

I think even he liked it.

6-5-09 156

As I was watching said rocket launch, I caught this one pickin’ a big one.

6-5-09 155

I’ll spare you the treasure he found. ‘Cuz I’m nice like that. I do have it though, in case any are interested.

6-5-09 157

Little Miss Lanky. Does she not look like she’s grown a couple’a feet since my last post? Good golly Miss Molly.

6-5-09 158

I’m so thankful the Lord blessed me with a little girl. I just love her to pieces.

6-5-09 159

Wayde and Cora brought this cool “swing ball” game….kind of like tetherball/tennis. Even the adults had a few rounds.

6-5-09 161

Auntie Jill is officially “the coolest aunt ever” and Aubrey is “SO lucky to have such a cool aunt” according to Dylan. Little did we know that she just so happened to set up camp a stones throw away and rode up one day to find us lardin’ out by the river.

6-5-09 168

Aubrey, who has camped with Auntie Jill lots of times, knew there were some 4-wheelers close by and asked her auntie if she could have a ride.

6-5-09 170

Of course, then everyone wanted one. I was glad Jill made the parents take their children. That way I got to ride it, too!

6-5-09 169

This one, actually, both of these guys were a bit nervous. Keifer was o.k. once he saw that it was like a SeaDoo and not like a motorcycle, where you have to change gears and such.

6-5-09 166

Oh and don’t worry Menders, I reminded Dylan that he, too, had an awesome aunt. We talked for a few minutes, I reminded him ever so gently of past activities…and he very quickly remember that YOU, too, were cool too. Love ya….uha

6-5-09 162

THIS was the home of the Cornwells. We don’t have a trailer. Yet.

6-5-09 163

Loungin’ and yappin’ the day away

6-5-09 164

Miss Donna did the girls’ hair the same, ‘cuz they love to be twinners.

6-5-09 167

Believe it or not, this is the cleanest his face looked all weekend. That GC dirt is some nasty stuff.

6-5-09 174

Even though we said we would never go back up to Idaho City, otherwise known as Bomb City, we did. We sure did. We visited the same football field last year and once again had a blast lighting off our own fireworks and watching 26 other shows.

6-5-09 178

Keifer visited a “real fireworks store” not just a stand and found REAL sparklers. You know, the really dangerous ones? The ones we used to use as kids and almost caught each other on fire with? Yep, those ones.

6-5-09 179

Yep, just as I remember when I was little. When those darn little sparks would hit you in the foot or on top of you head? Look closely and you’ll see Karly’s mistrustful look. She’s very very close to dropping it and taking off.

6-5-09 175

Here, we are watching the main fireworks show. Only there were umpteen other ones going on at the same time. We didn’t know where to look.

6-5-09 176

On our last morning, everyone was admiring Keith’s morning ‘do. This is pretty much what he looks like every morning. BUT, when you haven’t washed your hair in days, the mohawk ‘do is far more alive.

6-5-09 180

I promise, the water did NOT look this disgusting in person. My camera has put a nasty tint on it.

6-5-09 181

This was right before we were leaving. It’s so hard to say goodbye.

6-5-09 182

Goodbye to the dirt, marshmallows, campfires….

6-5-09 183

Goodbye to the most annoying pest on the whole earth…the ones who deplete your blood and leave you in misery for days….

6-5-09 184

Goodbye to the cold, cold water and the rocky river hikes…and the snakes.

Until next time.

Oh, and one more thing....HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNTIE LINDA!

It looks like you had a very fun-filled camping trip. Great memories for all. Next time try putting some listerine in a spray bottle and use it like bug spray (be sure to use the nasty yellowish flavor - the kind that you would never ever rinse your mouth with because it taste like poison, it won't leave you all sticky feeling, like the orange flavored one I started with). It worked for us on our last camping trip.

Love,
Mendi

I haven't gone camping in a while. Matt and Ben went recently with Andrea and Jeff and some other brethren.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun :)
